# Upstream and compatibility policy

GidoraAi began from Ollama revision `c44575ef1408b17015d27385003322b02fcbd26d` (2026-08-19). Ollama is licensed under the MIT License; its copyright and license text remain in `LICENSE`.

The fork intentionally follows a staged migration:

- Public product, executable, service, runtime headers, docs, storage defaults, and native environment variables use `GidoraAi`, `gidoraai`, and `GIDORAAI_*`.
- The Go module path remains `github.com/ollama/ollama`. Renaming it would create a large, low-value diff across generated and backend-integrated code and is deferred until a coordinated module migration.
- `lib/ollama`, `OLLAMA_*` CMake cache variables, native runner symbols, llama.cpp compatibility patches, registry media types, and compatible wire routes remain internal compatibility identifiers.
- Legacy `OLLAMA_*` runtime variables are accepted below `GIDORAAI_*` priority.
- `/api/...` and `/v1/...` compatibility behavior is retained while `/api/v1/...` provides a native evolution path.
- The default compatible registry adapter uses the established model ecosystem. Registry access does not bypass authentication or access restrictions.

No upstream attribution is removed by product branding. New releases should record the merged upstream revision here and review `docs/BRANDING_AUDIT.md`.
